This Happiness Hack Costs Less Than $10 (Yes, Seriously)

Warm coffee brewing, misty morning dew, a fiery sun breaking the darkness with its blushing glow.

There’s something magical about a new day, a new beginning, a blank slate.

But how can you extend the enchantment of morning newness past your rage-inducing commute, barking pets, and wailing children?

The answer is a little whiteboard for under $10, my friend.

Over the past six months, I’ve been conquering more goals than I have throughout my entire career. I owe much of my recent success to reading and writing obsessively. I’ve fallen in love with so many words and phrases, and have looked for ways to incorporate them into my everyday life so that I can maintain mindfulness throughout the day.

I’ve tattooed myself, created book summaries, and even built a “smile gallery” right beside my bed, so that the first thing I see when I wake up are words from my favorite authors.

But my secret weapon for staying happy throughout the day is literally a little whiteboard hung up near my desk that I picked up at Michael’s with a 40% coupon.

If you’re anything like me, most of your time is spent at a desk in front of a computer. My framed quotes were great. But every single day was different – and so were my motivations!

I needed something that could easily be changed depending on my tasks or mood.

Each morning, before I dive into work emails and my daily task list, I sit down with a big mug of morning java and spend a few minutes reflecting on how I’m feeling and what needs to get done. Then, I browse the web for the perfect inspirational quote. It has quickly become one of my favorite daily habits.

My little whiteboard serves as a constant reminder of what is truly important each day, helping to keep me grounded and grateful, and ready to tackle whatever comes my way.
